Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How large is the service area we work in?
A: We service a 15 mile radius of Matthews, NC.

Q: How soon can we start?
A: With our small team and the number of clients wanting to work with us, we tend to stay booked out up to 4-6 months in advance for most projects, though we may be able to squeeze a smaller project in sooner. Should you chose to work with us on the design of your project prior to beginning construction, we can usually start on your design within a month.

Q: How long will your project take?
A: Project timelines depend on the type of project. Smaller projects such as a single room renovation may take 2-3 months, depending on the level of detail, while a full blown kitchen or bathroom renovation typically takes at least 6 months. We emphasize quality over speed and will be very transparent with you about the timeline of your project so you are never left wondering.

Q: Do we give free estimates?
A: Without a detailed scope, we are able to provide a very rough range for how much similar projects have cost in the past. For a detailed estimate, we strongly suggest you utilize our in-house design services so overall scope can be fully defined for an estimate.

Q: How much are your design services?
A: Our typical design fees are between 3-5% of the overall construction cost of your project. We will provide a design services agreement outlining our fee structure before we begin working on your design.

Q: Are we more expensive than your average contractor?
A: Because of our high attention to detail, the quality of materials we use, and our dedication to your overall satisfaction, we may not be the best fit for every project’s budget. But, for people looking for a quality end result, we could be just the contractor you’re looking for.

Q: Will the price of the project change?
A: With our detailed planning process, we are able to provide a fixed price at the beginning of the project, meaning the price of your project will remain the same throughout. If scope is added to the project, you will be asked to approve a change order before we proceed with this extra work.

Q: Will you be on site to oversee the progress of the project?
A: Yes! Since the majority of the work is self-performed in-house, you will see our shining faces more often than not. For specialty work being completed by our close-knit group of subcontractors, we will be by daily to make sure our standard of quality is being met.

Q: Will you obtain all required building permits?
A: Yes, if the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) requires a permit for the work we are performing, we will handle every aspect of the project from obtaining permits to scheduling inspections.
